Race info

A day to practice, train, or just take the boat out with the reassurance of safety boat cover.

If you are nervous on the water, or want some hints and tips, there will be club members on hand to help out with anything that you might need. If you have a specific training requirement, for example sailing with a gennaker, or just need some tips, please contact sailing@hfsc.org.uk and we'll partner you up with someone who can help you.

If conditions look good and people are willing, expect some kind of sailing activity - be it a re-scheduled race, an impromptu cruise to the Isle of Wight, or a game of cricket on the Bramble Bank.

Keep an eye out for an email from the sailing secretary.

David Lloyd, winner of 31 national Dart 18 titles in 6 different countries, has very kindly offered to come and give us a few pointers on how to sail our Darts (and others) better. In addition to Dart 18s he's competed in the F18 and Tornado Worlds and also sailed Spitfires, Dart 15s and keelboats to name a few. David will be going over how to set your boat up for different conditions, going through different manoeuvres, and, if conditions permit, offering advice on the water. This should be really useful to all us no matter what you sail and all are welcome!

The Solent Forts Race is a long-distance event set in the Eastern Solent, with Hayling Island and Portsmouth to the north and the Isle of Wight to the west. Originally open to fast catamarans, the race is now open to all as part of the Allen Endurance Series.
