Netley SC have changed the date of their visit to HFSC and it will now be on Saturday 22nd May. They will be racing to our Club then back again after a brief stop, and have agreed that boats from HFSC can take part in the leg from HFSC to Netley.
If you want to take part in this 'Race to Netley' you will need to be rigged and ready to go by 12.30pm on Saturday (this is the earliest that the Netley boats are likely to leave and the departure is probably going to be significantly later than this but we do not want to hold them up). Netley SC is on Southampton Water just past the entrance to the Hamble River; the distance is about 15 miles (2-3 hours depending on the wind). You MUST take a mobile 'phone with you. There will be a briefing just before we leave HFSC which will cover the navigational issues and what to expect at the other end.
We will be taking our Safety Boat with us to cover the return journey, and to provide a tow if the wind drops in the late afternoon for the trip back to HFSC. We can decide on the day whether we race or cruise back to HFSC.
We also need volunteers to man the Safety Boat.
